MCP Inspector

This guide explains how to use MCP Inspector to connect to the MCP server and authenticate using your own API key.

How to Use MCP Inspector

Step 1. Open MCP Inspector

Open the following link in your browser:

https://mcpi.buyercaddy.com/?transport=streamable-http&serverUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fmcp.salescaddy.ai%2Fmcp&MCP_PROXY_FULL_ADDRESS=https%3A%2F%2Fmcpp.buyercaddy.com&MCP_PROXY_AUTH_TOKEN=23f5e2ee58ff1755a96699ce0580a3376a538549fd436dc7315bbabe9fe0e291#tools

This link already contains the required server and transport configuration.

Step 2. Locate the Headers Configuration

  1. In the MCP Inspector interface, find the section for Custom Headers (or Request Headers).
  2. This section allows you to add additional HTTP headers to your requests.

Step 3. Add the X-Api-Key Header

  1. Add a new header with the following values:

    • Header name: X-Api-Key
    • Header value: your personal API key

    Example:

    X-Api-Key: your_api_key_here
  2. Make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the header name or value.

Step 4. Save and Apply

  1. Save or apply the header settings (if required by the interface).
  2. Ensure the header is enabled and included in requests.

Step 5. Use MCP Inspector

After adding the X-Api-Key header:

  • You can call tools listed in the Tools section.
  • Requests will be authenticated using your API key.
  • Responses from the MCP server should now work correctly.

Troubleshooting

  • Unauthorized / 401 error:
Double-check that your API key is correct and active.
  • Requests not using the header:
Verify that the X-Api-Key header is saved and enabled.
  • Connection issues:
Reload the page and try again.

You’re all set 🚀
Once the X-Api-Key header is added, MCP Inspector is ready to use.
